While watching my daughter decorate that mask, I saw the power in attaching what is good to what is scary and how our perception of a difficult situation could change simply by seeing it through the lens of optimism and love. I was glad I had those items in my shaky hands today; I was even more glad to let them go. Unexpected appreciation looks beautiful on the recipient’s face and feels calming to the giver’s soul. My daughter is resting now. There is a pain, but there is goodness. There is so much goodness in the midst of it.
